My artwork can best be described as “classical representational”. I do not seek to change what is, but to paint it and present it in such a way as to evoke a feeling of place and time. I strive to create a painting that shows the beauty and character of the landscape whether it be remote or in the middle of town.

Each painting I do has a story behind it. I can look at the painting and it takes me back to that day and I can once again feel the breeze, hear the birds, gators and all sorts of wildlife, smell the clean air, etc. Even the times of trial, when the wind was so strong that I had to paint behind a park bench and still had to hold the top of the painting while I painted to keep it from blowing away. But the colors that day were so beautiful, I had to endure it. And I’m glad I did as it ended up being one of my favorite paintings. I could tell a million stories but the desire to capture the light, time of day, stormy sky or whatever attracts my attention that day, is compulsive and such a challenge that I must attempt it.

My goal is to capture scenes that one day will be gone in the hopes that others will see and appreciate the land that we have today.
